The Bible identifies Jehovah as the one true God, the Creator of the heavens, the earth, animals, and humankind (Psalm 83:18; Revelation 4:11). Everything in the universe exists because of His will, and He is the rightful Sovereign over all creation.
Long before his human life, Jesus existed in heaven as God’s first creation, “the firstborn of all creation” (Colossians 1:15). Jehovah sent him to earth to be born as a human, making it possible for him to give his life as a ransom for mankind (John 3:16). After his resurrection, Jesus was appointed as King of God’s Kingdom, the heavenly government that will bring peace and righteousness to the earth (Daniel 7:13–14; Matthew 6:10).
In the beginning, God created humans in His image and likeness, giving them the ability to reflect His qualities such as love, wisdom, and justice (Genesis 1:26–27). Unlike animals, humans were designed to live forever on a perfect earth. However, when Adam—the first man—sinned by disobeying God, imperfection entered the world. As a result, humanity inherited aging, sickness, and death (Romans 5:12).
Adam is the first human - actually created by Jehovah God himself. He later disobeyed God deliberately and lost the prospect of living forever. According to the Bible, children were born to Adam and his wife Eve after they lost God's favor and became imperfect. So, humans since then have this inherent imperfection (main cause of death) transferred to them.
Sin is defined in the Bible as falling short of God’s standard, whether in actions, thoughts, or failing to do what is right (1 John 3:4; James 4:17). It began with Adam and Eve’s disobedience in Eden and has since spread to all humans (Romans 3:23). Sin separates mankind from God and leads to death (Romans 6:23). Yet, through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, forgiveness is possible, offering the hope of eternal life and reconciliation with God (1 Timothy 1:15; John 17:3).
The Bible holds out the hope of everlasting life, not just in heaven for a limited number, but for the great majority of humankind here on earth. God’s original purpose was for people to live forever in peace and happiness on a paradise earth (Psalm 37:29; Isaiah 65:21–22). Through Jesus Christ, that purpose will be fulfilled, as God’s Kingdom brings an end to suffering, war, and death, restoring the earth to the paradise conditions first seen in Eden (Revelation 21:3–4). Those who obey God and put faith in Christ will enjoy everlasting life in perfect health, security, and joy.
